“A Journey of a Thousand Miles…

Falling asleep on our  connecting flight from Dallas to Phoenix, I was rocked awake not by turbulence, but by the feeling that I needed to look out the window…

Pulling myself up, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and feeling… it was as if we were flying over another planet… it was awesome!

Snow-covered the mountain tops that were set against the  deep brown mountains and surrounding deserts… Underneath the blazing blue sky, dried rivers formed intricate capillary like networks of all shapes and universes, the colors were so bright, the mountains dispersed and dramatic… I was speechless.

Despite the twelve-hour journey that had left us exhausted, as we arrived in Sedona, not only did the energy completely change, we were both mesmerized by our new environment … Coming from the concrete jungle, we were now in a Red Rock Sanctuary.

“What is this place?!” I thought, as we completely miss the turn off to our Bed and Breakfast, unable to turn around…  driving past Bell Rock, we were stunned… immediately feeling its energy, there were no words to describe the feeling besides an absolute knowing that this was where we needed to be tomorrow…

Passing through more of Sedona (mouths hanging open), back towards Cozy Cactus we checked into our room (which was beautiful), and something came over both of us…whether it was the excitement of being someplace new, the amazingness of our room, the energy (or the energy 😉 ), we needed to explore…

Venturing through one of the trails that started in our backyard, the surprising softness of the red rock sand beneath our feet was re-energizing and refreshing. Upon climbing one rock with an incredible view, my Angel immediately felt that we needed to climb to the center of the mountain that was directly adjacent to us- Castle Rock (I will come back to this in two posts). Unable to find a path with the sun beginning to set, we decided to not take any chances just yet, so we turned around to get some rest.

Celebrating our first Valentines day together, directly under the Milky Way, we had drive-through Mexican, were in bed by 8:30, and it couldn’t have been more perfect… we were exactly where we needed to be, Sedona 😉
